There are increasing warnings coming out of El Salvador about contributing to the relief efforts being conducted by the Salvadoran Red Cross. It has been reported that the Salvadoran Red Cross is heavily influenced and controlled by the Salvadoran Government and is being subjected to the same problems of corruption. Vital aid that has been donated by people from around the World is disappearing faster than it makes it to those in need. Those locations that do get Salvadoran Red Cross aid are greatly influenced by the wishes of the government. We are trying to get comments by the US and International Red Cross about how they are monitoring the distribution of aid going into El Salvador. Stay tuned for more on this critical and controversial subject. We are not saying do not contribute to the Red Cross, but you should be aware that this not the best use of dollars for relief aid to El Salvador. You are basically giving your money to the Salvadoran national government and trusting them to help everyone evenly. |
