Taiwan

Taiwan

Taiwan is the warmest place you can fly to over Christmas from Korea if you don't want to spend huge amounts of money on flights. Although the flights were still expensive! Hobbes was there for three full days, plus a bit before and after when he flew in and out. Here is the three day tour complete with loads of photos, it is a bit bigger than usual so I have split it into three days.

Day 1

You apparently can see some sort of rare bird in the Taipei botanical gardens, goodness knows how as it is tiny and I couldn't see the tiger in front of my face.

Anyhow first day proper, started off in the National Palace Museum, which holds most of the Ancient Chinese things that Chiang Kai Shaek disappeared with after he lost the war.

It's a tradition, a tiger and a cannon. This time from the university near Danshui

A very strange tourist attraction near Danshui, the ... fort. Basically it is a lump of concrete put up 100 years ago, there used to be guns but not anymore and renovations began in 1991 apparently, sure it will be finished any day soon.

No idea what this is all about either, looks like they use the passages underneath as a store room.

Martyr's shrine

Not sure what they are selling but they have two hogs tied up outside, unlikely to be a vegetarian restaurant.

A couple of pictures from Danshui harbour
