It was an excruciating couple of days for Blake and Regan. Blake knew what he had done was right, and that giving her a couple of days to think would be for the best. Yet he couldnt help think of what she would decide in the end. It scared him more than anything to think of losing her, but he knew he had to do the right thing. It would break his heart, but he knew that if he hadnt let her, in the long run he would have gotten hurt even more.

Regan was agonizing over what Blake had said to her a couple of days ago. He was right; he couldnt date her and her baggage at the same time. She needed to think seriously about everything before she got into another relationship. Especially with Blake, the most perfect man she had ever met in her life. She knew deep down in her heart the last thing she wanted was to lose him. She had decided that in two seconds. She spent the next couple of days trying her hardest to get over her problems.

Every spare second she wasnt working, she was writing in her journal. She had almost completed it when she suddenly had an idea.

She threw down her pencil, tossed her shoes on, and grabbed her keys. She was going to go fix some of what she had caused.

Ten minutes later she was at Blakes door, almost knocking it down. His mom answered, smiled warmly at her and invited her in. Blake was in the basement, sketching. In the next couple of seconds he was in the living room, staring at her.

You wanted to see me? he asked, trying to avoid her gaze.

Yeah, she said, noticing his eyes were on the floor and not on her. It hurt her a great deal, but she would accept the fact that he was even talking to her over anything else. Are you terribly busy?

No, I was just drawing. Why? What did you have in mind? he murmured.

Were going somewhere, she said, standing up.

Um alright, let me put my shoes on, he said, and disappeared quickly to his room at the end of the hall.

She sighed and walked over to the door while waiting for him. He emerged a couple of seconds later and finally looked up at her. He smiled; realizing how much he really had missed looking at her sweet face.

Regan smiled back, opened the door, and walked out to her car. Within the next couple of minutes, they were on the road and talking like they had before. Neither of them brought up what they were really both anxious to talk about, but Blake knew that Regan had a plan to tell him everything she felt and everything she thought about things.

To Blakes surprise, they pulled right back into Regans driveway. He thought they had been heading to their park, but he never knew what to expect from Regan.

She led him into the house, up to her room, and made him promise to shut his eyes and not open them. She disappeared back into the room, stayed in there for a couple of minutes, and then finally came back out.

Come on already, he said impatiently, tapping his foot.

Alright, alright. Dont open your eyes until I say so, she said, opening the door and guiding him in.

He sighed. Whatever you say.

Okay? she said, looking around to make sure everything was perfect.

Can I open my eyes now? he begged.

Yes, she said after a final overview of the room.

He opened his eyes and his jaw dropped. All around the room, Regan had strategically placed and lit candles that made the place dim and romantic. Rose petals were strewn all over the place, and she had replaced her regular leopard skin bed sheets with red satin. Slow and soft music played quietly just behind Regans bed.

She looked around one more time and then turned back toward Blake slowly. I did what you told me to do she whispered, looking at him and not being able to resist staring at the lips she had longed for the past couple of days. I thought a lot about everything you had said.

He couldnt take his eyes off of the room. She had gone to so much trouble to prepare all of this and all he had done was wallow in self-pity while he drew sketches of her in his bedroom.

You were absolutely right, she said. He looked at her and finally his face softened. Even though it had been a couple of days, he had really missed her. It didnt feel right not to have her near him, enclosed in his arms.

Huh? he asked, still dumbfounded.

You were right about everything. I needed to get rid of all of my baggage before I took on another relationship. Especially a relationship with someone I am falling for. Someone whos so perfect for me.

He smiled tenderly and opened his mouth to talk. She shushed him with her finger and proceeded to talk again.

You dont know how hard its been, trying to pretend to love someone and then when you realize that they had been pretending to love you all along you still feel betrayed. Its so odd. I was going to break up with Chase all along but when I found out he was cheating on me, I felt completely broken and lied to. He took advantage of me and told me he loved me.

She walked away from him and he held out his hand to her. He drew it back once she began talking again.

Its so strange the way things seem to work out. Life and love have a mysterious way of letting you see the beauties. It was so difficult trying to convince myself that I wasnt ever going to fall in love again. Yet it was so easy to turn it off at the same time, after being hurt like I was. I wrote all the time about my predicament. I wrote all the time about how much I wanted to be in love with the perfect guy, the one for me my soul mate. I also wrote how it cant happen just like that. Some people spend their entire lives waiting for the perfect person, and sometimes youre led to believe that the person you love at the time is the one for you, but it really isnt. Thats how it was for Evan and me. I never felt that way about Chase, but I always felt close enough to him to the point where it hurt so much to see him walk away from me. I was convinced that I wasnt ever going to fall in love again. Like I said, some people never find that person.

But then you came into my life, and started giving me tons of things that I dont deserve. You still do, whether you know it or not. You give me a reason to get up out of bed, to be happy about life; you give me a reason to look forward to my future. I knew the moment I saw you I knew I was one of the lucky ones.

She looked up to see Blake crying, but smiling in spite of his tears. She got up and walked over to him, taking off his coat slowly.

I do love you. I was just too afraid to say it.

He said nothing but continued to stare at her. His eyes filled with tears and he ran his hand through her soft blonde hair. It was like a blessing to his fingers feeling her hair between them again.

I never want to lose you, she told him. And when you walked out of here that day, I couldnt get up from one spot, thinking you had left me forever.

He shook his head and smiled at her. No, no, he reassured her. Theres no forever. Theres just now.

Oh Blake she whispered, putting her arms around his neck and sinking into his lips.

He devoured her then, kissing her passionately and hungrily, not knowing how he had survived a couple of days without touching her once. He found himself rubbing her back and pulling her toward him each time he moved in to kiss her. She couldnt get enough of his lips on hers, and kept pulling his neck to her lips harder and harder with each second their lips stayed locked together.

Without realizing it, Blake had begun to undress her carefully. Her coat came off slowly, and his shirt came off in the next couple of minutes without hesitation. Before either of them knew it, they were on the satin covered bed next to each other, clothes completely off, still kissing like they would never kiss each other after that night.

It was a slow and steady act, each of them knowing with every passing second that it was the right thing for them to be doing. Blakes lips traveled up and down her body several times before coming successfully back to her mouth again. Regan tipped her head back to let his lips kiss every inch of her neck and she heard the song that had been playing the entire time theyd been making love.
Drowning by the Backstreet Boys, and as she listened to the words, it seemed more and more appropriate for her and Blakes relationship.

Afterward, Blake put his arms around Regan underneath the sheets, kissed her over and over, and told her continuously how much he loved her.

Oh Blake, she said, turning to look deeply into his eyes. Youre all I will ever need in my life.

His eyes filled with tears as he placed a kiss on her forehead. Really?

Definitely, she said, nodding.

Then thats all Ill try to be for you, he whispered, and after a few kisses, they made love again.

Each time they acted upon their feelings that night, Regan knew more and more how right it felt. It was like their bodies were made to fit together perfectly. It made Regan feel like finally, after all of her heartache, none of it had been in vain.
