The annual diocesan-wide raffle for the Catholic schools of the Diocese of El Paso was created to provide each school with the maximum amount of profit possible and to market all of the schools through a joint effort. By joining together in this effort, the schools are guaranteed 80% of all their sales. The other 20% is used to cover the cost of printing the tickets, paying for the prizes, and offering seller incentives at the diocesan level. If there is any difference between the 20% and the cost of the program, then it is put into the Diocese of El Paso Catholic Schools Scholarship Trust Fund to build up the principal. All schools have families apply for financial aid and therefore eventually will benefit from the proceeds.
Schools use their profit in a variety of ways ranging from operating budget expenses to special projects.
The event kicks off with the Sunday of Catholic Schools Week and ends in late-March. This year's event will begin in January, 2008 and end with the drawings on March ----- on the grounds of the Catholic Pastoral Center. |
