| Through the efforts of Bishop Anthony Schuler, the Rev. Robert O'Loughran and Mr. William Fryer, the Christian Brothers were invited to open a school for the young men in El Paso in the 1920's. Cathedral High School was established in 1925 and housed in what was then the Catholic Community Center of El Paso. Only the second floor of the building at 1309 N. Stanton was used for school activities until the mid-1950's when the school was expanded throughout all four floors. For the first thirty years, the faculty was composed almost entirely of Christian Brothers. Since the 1950's, more and more lay colleagues shared with the Brothers the Lasallian Tradition of Cathedral's Catholic educational experience. Cathedral High School is a non-profit corporation in the Diocese of El Paso. |
