Played By: Rafael St. Germaine Lotheneser was born in the Free City of Irongate, the son of a merchant's daughter and a visiting elven noble from Sunndi. Although his parents never married, he had a relatively happy childhood, spent at times in cosmopolitan Irongate, and at others in Suundi. (His father once took him to visit the wondrous Menowood, and he now wonders if he really met a talking tree or if that is but a child's dream.) His grandfather sent him to the finest tutors, but Lotheneser's tastes ran more to exploring his beloved city. As he seemed to have no vocation other than alleybashing, his grandfather began taking him along on trading trips at age 15. The young half-elf found he enjoyed traveling, and by the age of twenty he was in charge of guiding his family's overland caravans. He enjoyed this so much that he began working as a guide for other merchants and travelers, as well as map-makers and hunting expeditions. It was well, for shortly after he turned 30 his grandfather passed away, and the family fortunes came to be controlled by his human uncle, Luther, who despised him. He was promptly expelled from his family's business, but was able to make a good living on his own. For the last few years he has worked in various capacities: caravan guard, hunter, trapper, smuggler, courier, messenger, and even as a mercenary scout for the armies of Idee and Sundii. Lotheneser is an affable and loquacious young man, who enjoys a good tavern more than most. He constantly changes employers looking for excitement, not due to lack of loyalty. He is deadly serious about two things: finishing any job he takes on, and winning any fight he gets into, by any means necessary. He is a skilled horseman, outdoorsman and archer, and a competent swordsman. What few acquaintances realize is that he keeps the lessons learned as a young alleybasher close to heart. Physically, he is of medium height and build, with black hair (with a closely trimmed mustache and goatee) and amber eyes (revealing his elven heritage). He dresses in practical clothes of russet and green. He is never far from his powerful hunting bow, and for melee wields a basket-hilted broadsword. He always carries no less than a brace of knives for infighting. Lotheneser, even though he has changed jobs quite frequently, actually feels as if he has found a home in the Company of the Raven. He fells respected, liked, and a sense of camaraderie he had never felt before. He actually believes that he has found what he had unknowingly been searching for, and thus is the pride he feels in being a member of this company. He would gladly give life and limb for the sake of the Company if ever it were so required! |
