Treatments

There are different treatment methods for current ADHD treatment.

• Behavior modification (the use of basic learning techniques to alter human behavior)
• Medications
• Combination therapy (medication and behavior therapy)

For each patient, treatment should be individualized.

Treatment Process for Kids and Adolescents with ADHD

There are three basic stages:


1. 1.  Baseline evaluation: the physician or healthcare professional determinesa
        the target symptoms and the baseline degree of impairment (to cause
        to diminish, as in strength, value, or quality) as part of the diagnostic
        evaluation.
2. 2.  Treatment strategy: the physician prioritizes the target symptoms and
        determines which treatment methods would be the best at reducing
        them.
3. 3.  Symptom monitoring and strategy adjustment: monitoring symptoms in
        various areas (such as learning, academics, family interactions and peer
        relationships) and settings (such as home, school and extracurricular) is
        a key part of ADHD treatment.
