1.Question One: Discuss the dramatic function of Act Three in

 Pygmalion and Act Three in A Doll’s House   in terms of the a. climax of the two plays, b.the analysis of importance of the appearance of two characters in the third acts of these two plays : Rank and Nepommuck ,c. and compare the opening dialogues and the ending ones in these two plays.

2. Question Two :  In the reading versions of Pygmalion and A Doll’s House , and in the movies of these two plays ,  there are differences in the light of :

a.the element of suspense , b. places of the events, c. order of the events,  d. and avoidance of emotion and sympathy in the reading versions and the movies .

Analyze and discuss all the above points with examples.

3.Question Three: a.Explain in detail the following two quotations:

Quote One : For God’s sake ! What next ? Raise his head ?                                 0                  Where  do you think we are ? ….Once more and I ’m                   0                    off….

Quote Two: I have not the pleasure of being either your husband                             0                   or your fiancé, so please don’t make scenes….

 

Who are the playwrights ( in detail )?  c. Define ‘farce’ show what elements of farce used in  the above two plays and support your answer with examples from these two plays.

4.Question Four :Ibsen , Chekhov , and Shaw rejected romanticism and embraced realism . a. How realistic are Pygmalion , A Doll’s House , and ‘ The Bear ’ ? b. How much of these three plays is unrealistic? c. How is the theme of ‘money’ symbolized in these three plays?
