So what's up with the hamster fetish you ask? Quite simple. Morgan's fish kept dying so I bought her a couple of dwarf hamsters instead. Romeo and Juliet were their names cause they were just soooo loveable! Campbell's Dwarfs are quite the social animal. They sleep, eat and play together. Before I knew it I was researching about them and got really interested in the genetics. You know how some people collect stamps...some collect coins? Well, I collect Campbells Dwarf Hamsters. I now have five breeding pairs (that's ten hamsters) and constantly have litters around the house. At any given time I may have anywhere from 20-40 hamsters. Great thing about them is that they are so small that they don't make a great deal of noise or mess which means they don't smell like you'd think they would. They are the absolute best pets. My research has paid off and I've been able to produce many different color and coat variations of the Campbells Dwarf.
(6-24-03) I no longer breed hamsters. I have two left and keep them as pets. Squirt of course, she is the one I hand reared, she is my other child. And my last color variant, a blue argente named Charlotte. |
