Introduction

This course is ideal if you want to develop skills and knowledge of software and hardware and gain a greater understanding of the IT industry. It will advance your problem-solving skills and give you an introduction to this rapidly expanding industry.

Focusing on using software, you'll cover all aspects of computer systems and carry out basic installation and configuration. You'll learn how to design and create databases, edit computer-generated images and learn about the uses and features of tablets, like iPads, and other mobile devices. The units will develop your team work skills applied to computing and IT. We have strong links to industry and are a Cisco Academy and a member of the Computing and Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), so what you learn is up to date and relevant to your future career.

Assessment

All units are assessed by coursework, using assignments featuring realistic work-based projects that will challenge and boost your understanding of IT. You'll also take CISCO exams during the course.

Entry Requirements

Three GCSEs grades A*-D in relevant subjects or a related Level 1 qualification.

Next Steps

You can progress on to one of our Level 3 computing, systems support or games development courses or to a junior role in the IT industry. South Thames College offers IT courses and computer courses up to university level so there are many opportunities to progress with us.
