What is El Nino?
elnino

El Nino is a Spanish word that means boy child. El Nino is also called Christ Child. El Nino occurs in the Christmas time, so that's where El Nino got his name. It makes the temperature of the ocean's surface rise. El Nino usually happens along the coast of Peru and the equator. EL Nino can last for many months, and it occurs every 4-12 years. El Nino makes usual weather become offcourse. The weather will change to something that is very unusual for the normal weather patterns in that area. El Nino doesn't really affect Japan that much. El Nino does however cause more snow to fall in Nagano which caused problems for the Winter Olympics.

El Nino and La Nina
laninaandelnino

El Nino is very different from La Nina. El Nino causes warming in the ocean's surface and La Nina causes cooling of the ocean's surface. El Nino means boy child in Spanish and La Nina means girl. El Nino is the cause of many dangerous things to our Earth. It has caused things to die, floods, and destruction everywhere around you. El Nino tends to come around Christmas time which is where its name came from.
The same things about El Nino and La Nina are that they both cause floods. They make dry weather. Both make large differences in water temperature.

Effects of El Nino

Because of El Nino warmth in the ocean, this helps create big Hurricanes. When El Nino fades, the hurricane season begins. When El Nino occurs, fishermen in Washington State are finding marlins. Marlins are found mostly in tropical water and never seen in the north.
El Niño makes violent downpours and mud crashes down the slopes. These violent downpours create incredible floods that kill people and also make missing people.

El Nino Poem

El Nino Poem El Nino is very bad,
It heats water making you mad.
 Killing plants and killing fish
 Don’t kill people I wish, I wish
El Niño, Niño what have you done
Please stop now It is not fun
Weather patterns go crazy
 Making fish so dozy
What can I do to stop you?
If you stop I’ll thank you
