Dance
Review

The first Nishimachi dance
of this year was very different then last year's dances. I was
different in a good way and a bad way. Personally I thought that the
dance in all wasn't that good. I rate it two stars on a scale of five
stars is amazing and one star is horrible.
The theme for this dance was
underwater. It's good to have a theme for something, it makes the event
more interesting.
The decorations in this
dance were pretty good. Green streamers everywhere, and fish pictures
up on the walls. The lights were off and also the disco ball went
around in different colors from blue, to green, to yellow, to red. The
disco ball was a bit small though so I think they should make it bigger
or to hang it up in the middle, so that it casts light on more then
that little corner where it hangs during the dances. When I first went
inside I thought this dance was going to be so much fun. I guess I was
wrong.
Really soon, maybe only a
hour or a hour and a half after the dance started, all the food ran
out. Everything ran out, all the chips, drinks, pizza, everything!
People who don't eat before the dance like most people depend on the
dance food to not run out, since that's their dinner. I didn't go and
get food until later, only to find that there wasn't anything left to
buy. I had to go to Lawsons after the dance at around nine o-clock pm
to get something to eat. I got cup noodle which doesn't really fill you
up for a
really long time. A bunch of other people were there as well, I'm not
sure if they were there for the same reason as I was, but they were all
eating cup noodle and other snacks so I think they were hungry.
Having silly rules at dances
isn't really a good thing. At the dance, people weren't allowed to sit
down. Seriously, I'm not kidding. I got so tired after a while from
dancing, and I really wanted to sit down, but I couldn't. You couldn't
sit down unless you wanted to be found with a flashlight in your eyes
and people yelling “ Everyone, someone's been sitting down so
they have to dance for us!” I don't think anyone really wants
that attention just for sitting down. At the beginning of the dance,
mostly everyone was
dancing, except for those few people who just hung around the cupboards
and talked to their friends the whole time. After a while people
started getting tired, and if people get tired then everyone wants to
sit down. Since there's no chairs, people stand up and try to relax,
but they can't. No people dancing equals a boring dance, a boring dance
equals no one is going to want to come to the next dance. Some rules
are needed of course, but extremely silly ones like you can't sit down
is not good. You can't force people to dance, people should
want
to dance, not ne forced to.
Also, another thing that
wasn't good was that the people who hosted the dance were relying on
all the recommendations for songs that were up all week. However, there
weren't a lot of songs that were recommended, so after a while they
also started running out of songs. They asked people to start and give
them songs to play. Once, they even repeated a song, Candy Shop, which
isn't good. The song Candy Shop is okay, but to reapeat a song, any
song, then that is bad. If you do that, it kinda seems like
you
are desperate for songs so you have to replay them. I think that fact
that they asked people what songs they wanted played is good, but they
need to make a list of their own for when the songs run out. That way,
there will be a good variety of songs.
I do not think that this
dance was worth spending three- hundred yen on just to get in. I mean,
they ran out of food and songs, we couldn't sit down, and it didn't
seem to me that people were having fun. Not a lot of people were
dancing. If the next dance is like this one, then they should at least
lower the price, because people are not going to want to come back to a
dance like this one if there isn't at least another good thing about
it. I think they spent too much time decorating the place and not
enough time thinking about the other things as well, such as the songs.
Songs are a big part of the
dance.
I hope that the next dance will be much
better than
this one. Hopefully, the next people who sponsor the dance will learn
from the mistakes that the first dance had and fix them so that the
next one can be rated at least 4 out of five stars!! If they do fix all
these mistakes, then the next dance should be much much better!!
