Back in the saddle again... so to speak
So I am finally back from holidays and back into my old routine. The time away was great, catching up with family etc but it is sooo good to be back. Zahlie has grown so much since we left.
It was great to get back and pick all my flowers and press them - the garden was the most colourful it has ever been as I wasnt there to pick every last flower. Cosmos, lobelias, star pentas, plumbagos, african daisies... all were waiting for me happily.
I have had special joy pressing some pig faces this month - they were the last flower i would have expected to press so well. After removing the super juicy fleshy stems and leaves, all that is left is a circle radiating flouro pink and orange flowers - much like the sun rays on a childs drawing. The yellow stamens stay in the centre, which is quite amazing and they look so fantastic teamed with some other bright flowers on a greeting card.
Monday I got super industrious and made some more paper - definitely the best batch i have ever made. It is just off white with a few multi coloured specs throughout - about 5-10 per sheet. Tonight is late night shopping so we will probably go down to Bunnings to get some rockery mix seeds for my living cards. Cant wait to get them out to the public.
Better go and press some more - the garden seems to be in overdrive this week - the organic fertiliser and seasol is really paying off now!
