Small baby, small business and small budget! What to do?
Juggling so many new things....

I am so excited to have my own website and now my own Blog. I am trying to start a small pressed flower card business and also spend time with my little 3 month old daughter Zahlie. I am 22 years old, live in South East Queensland, Australia and have a wonderful husband of 3 years (at least it will be 3 years next Tuesday 27th March). We have just purchased our first home together and are working hard to get it up to scratch. The hardest part of all this? I have no idea how to start a business.

Here's the plan - I am just going to do some research and jump right in. The best thing about starting small on a tight budget is that you have very little to lose. I dont want to start off with debt because if it doesnt work out I most likely wont be able to service it. I figure if I can approach the right businesses and just convince them to sell my cards, I will be off to a good start.

At the moment its hard to get enough flowers - my garden is stripped of all colour every morning and I have even started my mother pressing flowers for me down in the Riverina NSW. So I have to get my garden flowering before I get too serious.

I have a small list of locations (nursery's, florists etc) where I would like to sell my cards. I have emailed them all but I am not expecting many responses. Perhaps in this instance it will be better if I approach them directly with my cards in hand. If I dont get a response by the end of the week, they will be on my "VIP" (visit in person) list.

Easter is coming up and we are going to make the 1200km trip down to my parents place for the long weekend. Most of that will be spent fossicking through my mums rambling garden looking for flowers to press and cuttings to take and spending endless hours of talking.

I will keep you up to date with everything that is going on with my cards, and hopefully someone will be able to pick up some hints and tips along the way.
