Mad rantings: Just Friends

What would you do if...
Someone confesses that they are in love with you..

Cool. You are taken aback at first.
Flattered, and on cloud ten, perhaps?

But.... what if...
That someone, happens to be just a friend ?

I hear you sigh.

Precisely.
That is life's hardest bitch.

One of the worst scenario I can ever imagine myself being in.
It comes right after the death of loved ones.

How on Earth do you reject a friend's affection without rejecting his friendship? That is a toughie.

See, if that person is a stranger.. it'll be a teeny bit easier. You can roughly gauge their level of interests in you and act appropriately.

You know, solve the problem at its bud, by not flirting with that person and making the worst of worst impressions... basically, turning him off for life ;)

But with friends, it is a different story.. *sigh*

See, the thing with friends is that, when they are falling for you,
most often than not, you cannot see it...
You are most likely to miss the signs that are painfully obvious to everyone else.

I mean, how could you?
He treats you like he does, everyone else. He drools at every other women. He insults you endless and refuses to back off with those jokes.. All in all, he's acting like a typical friend.

The only time you know of his affection towards you is when he tells you straight to your face. But by then, it'll be too late.

Nope, you cannot salvage yourself by giving that worst impressions act.. Cos heck, he has seen it all.. and
*gasp* Is still in love with you... *shakes head*

It may seem romantic to some people.
Not so, when you are in this shoe. Think, 8 inches spiked heels number.. all pretty, but damn... it's uncomfortable.

See, when any guy tells you that he loves you and you cannot reciprocate that feeling.. he's bound to get rejected and hurt.
Sooner or later, he will do his dissappearing act..

Same goes with guy friends.
It's a survival mechanism, I guess.

Even if he stays with you, the friendship will be filled with awkward moments. It's very unlikely that it'll be back to its pre devil-may-care state :(

But the tragic moment has got to be that part about hurting him.

I mean how could you have the heart to hurt him..?

He, who entertains you, with his brand of corny jokes.
He, who wakes you up, to smell the bastard.
He, who forces himself to say nothing clever, when you are looking so darn stupid..

It is such a heartbreaking scenario.
You can't help but hurt yourself too, when you hurt him.

And so you wish, you could reciprocate..
But try as you may, you just don't see him like that :(
What's a girl to do?

So you let him know..
That eventhough you do not love him the way he wants you to,
You do love him with all your heart..

Then you pray and you hope.. that you have not hurt him too much.
And then, you grieve.. :(
