| Don't get me wrong. Britannia humour rules with me. Afterall, we indulge in it often enough. From pulling blokes in clubs for one night snog sessions. To flirting madly in pubs with our drunken male friends. Who, let's face it, are not really friends. More, males who hang around hoping to get into our tight pants. Hah, you hear me snort. And pigs fly. We may flirt like your typical English tarts. But we are not the real thing. Nothing is further from the truth. You see, Andrea, Ashley and me.. We are virgins. As the saying goes 'Birds of a feather, flock together' I guess our virginity is our feather. Surprising to some. Surprising to none. It depends on who you talk to :) And believe me, there have been a lot of talk. It almost bordered on the scandalous. Or so I was told. Apparently, discussions about the state of our hymens were rife in our student bar. Intact or not? The general consensus is this. Andrea, with her shy, introverted demeanour and good girl image is a likely virgin, so say the boys. Ashley and me, her polar opposites, are totally not, mate. I guess on the outset, we do seem naughty. Ashley and me. When society equates extroverted social skills and teeny weeny tops with promiscuity, naturally we would fit that equation. But we do try to rebel. In our own ways. Yet, you would assume that, either Ashley or me, are the driving influence of our little group, right? Think again. Ever heard of the statement, 'The strong silent type'? That's right. Andrea is the 'silent' type. And she oozed the power in this group. Funnily, we never saw it coming. Call me naive, but I always thought us equals. I guess, Ashley's laid back attitude and mine have missed Andrea's political ambition. If you may call it that. Somehow, it took us ages to realize her dominance. But by then, it was too late. She was getting too power hungry and we, too resentful. We have been defeated in a power struggle which we did not even know exist. That was the end of our A Team in my opinion. |
