The Forbidden Fruit

Many people wonder why God made such a big deal over Adam and Eve eating some fruit. They focus too narrowly on the fruit and miss the big picture of what was happening.

The universe was in the middle of a civil war between God and His loyal subjects and Satan and his rebel angels. Satan was the finest angel that God had ever created. He became too proud over his wonderful appearance, talents and his high position in the government of God, all gifts given to him by God (Ezekiel 29:12-19). He decided to overthrow God and become the supreme ruler and owner of everything.

He thinks he should have the right through force and/or deception to enslave all the intelligent beings that God created to live with Him in love, joy, and peace. He thinks that he should own everything God created without any checks on his behavior in how he uses it, even to murdering, torturing, raping, robbing, and otherwise abusing God and them.

Satan literally tried to steal all of the universe from God! In the process, he destroyed the land and people he was supposed to have ruled in God's government. God decreed that Satan and anyone who followed him would be slain, so that they couldn't take over the earth and rule it (Isaiah 14:12-21). That is to be the ultimate end of anyone who starts a war to seize people and properties that aren't rightfully theirs. Since God made everything and distributed shares to his created beings, there is no way to get more than your fair share except by robbing someone else.

That brings us to the forbidden fruit. God created Adam and Eve to rule the Earth and populate it with human beings. He gave them everything on the planet except for one thing: the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and its fruit. That belonged to God, and he told them not to eat the fruit of it.

Parents of children and rulers must both be trustworthy to take care of the people that God gives into their charge. Satan has shown for the past 6000 years that he certainly isn't trustworthy to rule anyone. Jesus showed by His sinless life and His complete obedience to God the Father, even to dying an agonizing death on the cross, that He is a trustworthy king to rule over and care for the human race.

Adam and Eve flunked the trustworthiness test when they ate the forbidden fruit. They showed by their actions that they were willing to join Satan's rebellion against God. Because God had given them the Earth to rule, Satan not only had dominion over them, but over the whole planet and the human race to be born on it as well.

God has anointed Jesus to be king over us so that we will always have a trustworthy king looking after the best interests of the human race. Jesus will put a stop to wars, bloodshed, slavery, theft, and all the other evils that presently beset us. He will have a kingdom full of love, peace, and justice.

If you want to be a part of His kingdom, all you have to do is pray to God for the forgiveness of your sins and adoption into His family. God loves you and wants you to join His family, and Jesus paid the price for your sins on the cross. Just pray this prayer:

Dear God, I'm sorry for my sins. I want to join your Heavenly family and I submit to King Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I renounce anything to do with Satan, his kingdom, and his ways. Please save me and adopt me as one of Your children. In Jesus' Name, Amen

If you prayed this prayer, you are now born again into the family of God. If you didn't, you are still in the kingdom of Satan because of Adam's and Eve's treason, no matter how good a life you have led. You have to make a petition to God to join His family to be moved from Satan's kingdom to God's kingdom. These kingdoms are real governments with their own citizens, and you have to make the voluntary choice to pledge your loyalty to King Jesus if you want to be a citizen in His kingdom. He completely paid the price for any sins that would mark you as a citizen of Satan's kingdom. All you have to do is accept the free gift of salvation by asking for God to acknowledge your redemption at the cross with the prayer above. Time is growing very short before the arrival of Jesus to take home His church and the Tribulation of seven years to start. It will be a time of war and horror beyond anything the world has ever seen, as God and Satan fight the war of Armageddon on Earth. Please make your petition to God now!
