Merry Christmas!

The Christmas programming is still going full blast, the usual hearty mix of sports and Christmas music. The politically correct drive against Christmas didn't extend to the television programmers who have Christmas advertising profits more in mind than pleasing the secular grinches. Tradition still rules the day, despite the efforts to rewrite history to erase any knowledge of Christ and Christmas.

My ire has risen this week over the letters to the editor in our local paper. There were the usual protests for tolerance towards other beliefs by people whose tone indicated that they were not religious but willing to humor the Christians if they would just be nice and shut up about this. There were also a number of responses from Christians who insisted on acknowledging our Savior and the celebration of His birth.

What got to me were the letters from liberal Christians willing to be nice and say "Happy Holidays" so they would not offend the non-religious among us. They would rather offend our Lord by pleasing them instead of Him, and they want to encourage the rest of us to side with the world as well!

Excuse me, I'm supposed to deny the Savior who died shedding His blood to pay for my sins so that I don't upset a bunch of people who are slowly destroying my country by replacing Christian principles with human ones?

I'm supposed to help children forget that He was born in human flesh and died on a cross to redeem mankind, if they ever heard about it in the first place?

I'm supposed to quietly keep this vital historical information from my fellow humans when their very lives depend on hearing it while they still have time to act upon it?

Christ's birth was a real, historical fact. Christ's death and resurrection were also real, historical facts. Christ's Second Coming is close at hand. We cannot be silent and let people stealthily erase this knowledge from the public scene. Too many lives depend on continuing to spread the Good News of salvation available to all who will simply believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and the bad news of the upcoming Tribulation and eternal judgment for those who won't.

A full fledged assault against Christianity won't work in America as it did in the Soviet Union and other such repressive socialist countries, so a stealth attack is underway. They want us to be nice and not offend anyone by even mentioning that December 25 is the traditional day to celebrate Christ's birth. Christ's birth is as much a historical fact as the birth of America. It makes no more sense to say "Happy Holidays" about December 25 than it does to say "Happy Holidays" about July 4.

Teachers in the public schools used to teach real history, but now they are supposed to teach imagined history that fits the aims of the liberal secular humanists and socialists. If they have such a superior system of human behavior and government policies compared to what was produced by applying Christian principles to American government, why can't they promote it without trying to hide the truth about the role of Christianity in American history and culture?

One would think that if Christianity was so bad, they would be striving to present the real history with a scholarly critique of its failings. Instead, they present a web of falsehoods against Christianity and for their own beliefs. Haven't we seen enough communist systems rise, murder millions to secure their power, lead to widespread suffering, and finally collapse to know that secular humanism and socialism taken to their logical ends simply don't work?

That doesn't happen when Christianity rises to leadership in a society. It brings peace, justice, equality for the sexes and races, hope for a brighter future, and above all, love for your fellow human being reflected in a positive social conscience guiding the citizens to promote the general welfare. This is precisely what the liberals want, isn't it? Why not go with a winning system and not their own failing one?

Because they want to be the gods ruling the system, that's why.

They don't want to submit to the God that created everything, or His Son who was an integral part of creating and sustaining everything and who died and rose again to redeem any person who will believe in Him for salvation, or the Holy Spirit who guides and teaches any human who is willing to believe in the Son Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

If you think the liberals and their beliefs will save you, why was it Christ's people who helped the most when the hurricanes swept through this year? Can't you be grateful or at least tolerant enough to acknowledge Christ's birthday celebration?
