| Community Service |
| Sigma Pi Alpha is deeply committed to community service. The Beta Chapter works with ALS patienst, Hearts for ALS committee, the Chicana/Latina scholarship, and tutoring . Some of our activities include the following: |
| ALS Walk-a-thon This walk helps raise funds for the research for ALS. As we all know there is no treatment nor cure. |
| Annual Music Festival 2000-2002 In this music festival the Sigma sisters bring together music from various regions and styles to raise funds as well as awarness for ALS |
| Achieving a Brighter Future Program (ABF) This is a tutoring program that was held at Gage Middle School, sisters help studenst complete their homework, and specially focus in those students learning English as a second language. |
| Hearts for ALS Committee The sisters of the Beta Chapter are part of this committee, where we provide various services for patients, such as medications, wheelchairs, small wishes, and most important of all love and care to one on one patients. |
| Chicana/Latina Scholarship This scholarship is issued to a High School graduating senior, based on achievements during thier high school carreer. |
| ALS Christmas Party This party is held annually by the Hearts of ALS committee and we share a joyful evening with our patients and their families. |
| Semana de la Mujer; along with Chicano Student Programs This was a celebration for semana de la mujer where we put together a magazine, full of poems and stories, about what it is to be a woman or to admire a woman. |
| Big Sister/ Big Brother Program This was a community service program where we get together with children ages 5-13 and play games, make cards and other fun activities where we become their big sisters and spend the day with them. |
| Community Settlement Center (tutoring) This program was basic tutoring to children fo the Riverside community. This after school program is to help children with their school work as well as to keep them off the streets. |
| Dia del Nino Conference Give children form different elementary schools a chance to explore the University campus. make cards and crafts for their families, lunch provided and face painting too. |
