Dear Parents, Welcome to fourth grade! Fourth grade is a huge step in your child’s education. We are no longer focusing on learning to read and write. In fourth grade we use our reading and writing skills to learn. We do much more in science and social studies including government, history, geography, and current events. We will also focus on Illinois history and government. Math is a new format and we will be into long division by Christmas Fourth graders are becoming much more independent. You may find they don’t share quite as much with you as they did before. I have been teaching fourth graders for ten years. I enjoy this age and the fourth grade curriculum very much. We will work very hard and hopefully have some fun along the way. If you have questions or concerns you may contact me at the school. I am at school by 8:00 and I stay until at least 3:30. I am available before or after school for appointments. I of course need to focus on my students and their education during the school day. It is best to check in advance and make sure I am free before just stopping by (I may have playground duty or commitments to other parents). I will be looking forward to a great year and I hope to see you at Open House!
