| Endometriosis is a reproductive and immunological disease affecting nearly 80 million women and teens worldwide. Currently there are limited options for treatment, widespread misinformation and a lack of knowledge about Endometriosis; insufficient support of those with the disease; and presently, no known cure. Endometriosis is a leading cause of hysterectomy and female infertility and can cause chronic pelvic pain, bowel and bladder problems, and more. The disease has many far-reaching effects and can impair a woman or teen's ability to work, attend school or social functions or care for herself and her family. Recent studies have even shown a link to higher rates of certain cancers and autoimmune disorders in those with Endometriosis. |

| The ERC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1997 to address the growing international need for Endometriosis awareness, education, support, and research facilitation. "With women and girls throughout the world suffering with this chronic disorder and hundreds more being diagnosed daily we can no longer afford to be naive and think it is just an insignificant issue," said Michelle Marvel, ERC Executive Director and Founder. The ERC offers in-person support groups all over the world and hosts the Internet's largest electronic group for Endometriosis support, and has an extensive educational program to assist physicians, patients and all those concerned with the disease. The EndoCenter of Plymouth, the latest group to join the ERC Support Network, was formed to address the need for accurate information and support in the surrounding communities and to bring local awareness to this disease affecting 1 in 5 females. |
