from the sayings of St. John Saba, the Spiritual Elder:

- It renders the adulterers chaste, as it polishes the luminous that is covered with rust.

- It is the mother of light; wings of fire grow to whoever is born of repentance and he flies with the spiritaul toward heaven. Those whose feathers have been plucked by hunters, and who seek shelter in its embrace for a few days, will take from it new feathers of fire for flying, better and lighter than the first ones.

- Repentance visits the dead, and those who have been swallowed by death and have become vile in its embrace. It then cuts death open to deliver the from its entrails.

- It sees the blind, every day, weeping at its door, so it attracts them and shows them the light of joy.

- It is paradise for the chosen, and the destroyer of all rebellious.

- It is a soil which raises the children of light, and purifies the unclean.

- It is the repository of the children of light, and the tutor of the followers of christ.

- It draws from calamity to the kingdom, from the brothel to the wilderness, to angelic behavior.

- Who then does not love you,O repentance, O carrier of all righteousness, except the Devil? Because you have seized his riches, and you have dissipated all his possessions.
