First things first.

All the recordings in this web site are
compressed with Microsoft Windows Media Encoder (they are not MP3). The reason why I chose
to do this and not in the MP3 format is quite obvious, smaller size files and better
quality. In order to listen to them directly from the web page, you must have installed in
your computer a player like WinAmp, MS Media Player, or a similar program and
configured as your default player.
All the songs in this Web site are
copyrighted, but since the songs have been recorded by me and not by their original
interpreters, downloading these songs do not infringe any law. In fact, the authors of
these songs will be happy to know that their authorship is preserved and divulged.
All the vocals --lead and harmonies-- were
sung by me (except for the 4 songs sung by Heidi Zambrana). Also, all the guitar --lead
and rhythm-- and bass were played by me. The rest of the songs, especially the Beatles
songs were instrumented by various musicians (too many to list, plus they know who they
are and you probably don't). The songs in Spanish were all sung and instrumented in their
entirety by me (Jorge Parrado, a.k.a. Coco).

Beatles Stuff

I don't know what more I can tell you about
The Beatles that you don't already know. But here are a few facts.
- A lot of people whom The Beatles knew and trusted profited
illegally by them. Even more, after they broke up they found out that their entire
collection of songs (catalog) didn't belong to them at all and was commercialized through
legal loops by third parties. Last I knew, Michael Jackson was still owner of it. What
does this infer? Money, lots of money that John, Paul, and George could have earned by
collecting royalties every time their songs were played; instead, Michael Jackson
collects, and which is more, the catalog can be sold at a record profit which Jackson will
do when the time is right. So, the walrus was Paul but the pirates were those who profited
(financially not musically) from The Fab Four.
- Paul McCartney is a widower who, on top of having earned a
decent wealth, has inherited a vast state from Linda Eastman which makes him the richest
musician.
- The US is no more a home of psychos than the UK. One
took the life of John, and the other almost succeeded with George's life, which brings me
to my next point.
- George Harrison is still alive, I mean, look at it from this
angle. The attempt on his life put such a strain on his family that they feared for his
life, so, they all decided that having George done his bit in the music scene, it was
about time he took his bows and disappeared for good from this mad world and led a normal
and ordinary life; the one that he never knew.

What is Rock Nacional?
|
- Around 1965, a Beatles copycat group from Uruguay called
"Los Shakers" arrived in Argentina and literally created the Rock Scene in this
part of the world. Conversely, at that time the music scene was flooded by vocalists and
groups that embraced a totally different style which they called "ritmo latino".
This infamous music would be the equivalent of today's cumbia or worse (if there's such a
thing) and appealed to the majority. But, a more intelligent, music oriented, freer crowd
needed to experience what others were doing the world over; people needed a rocking
experience that was far more exciting than the infamous ritmo latino.
- In 1967 when there was absolutely no rock musicians in latin
america and Spain who didn't copy from american and english groups, a new rock group was
created in Buenos Aires by Litto Nebbia which he named it, "Los Gatos". With the
firm intention of ending this lack of originality, sometime around 1967, "Los
Gatos" recorded "La Balsa" which really turned people's attention; it was
so original and yet so modern in the rock realm, that Dj's in the groove they all agreed
that this was a new genre of rock, this was the birth of "El Rock Nacional".
Coincidentally, another group was emerging in the same scene, La Joven Guardia, who, in
July of 1969, recorded another historical song, "El Extrao Del Pelo Largo"
(The Long Hair Weirdo), which reinforced and added weight to the Rock Nacional influence.
These two songs were truly original and paved the road for other musicians from all over
latin america and spain to follow their lead and embrace this new and beautiful tendency.
Moreover, this movement proved that rock sang in spanish could be both, popularity and
commercially successes.
- Of course there is absolutely no denying that these
musicians were heavily influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and The
Animals. Still, even the great english groups were influenced by the formidable american
black rhythm and bluesers such as Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and a bevy of other
great ones such as Ray Charles. So, not to rest the importance of Los Gatos and La Joven
Guardia, their work was very inspirational to many young rockers of the time. As for me, I
was a kid who dreamed to be as great as The Beatles but would have very much settled for
being as good as the creators of that hip Rock Nacional. Thank you guys!
