| REVIEW Hajime Katoki's redesign of the XXXG-01H2 Gundam Heavyarms Kai Custom not only bristles with over twice the firepower, but also makes for a mean looking figure. As on the original Heavyarms figure, the chest and shoulder armors open to reveal the weaponry inside, in this case four gatling cannons and a double set of micro missiles. Unfortunately, the front and side skirt armor, and leg missile pods have not been made openable. Still, the detail level is impressive, as is the articulation. The armor doesn't limit the figure's poseability, and the sturdy arm joints easily hold the heavy double gatlings. The gatling pods can also store on hinged supports on the backpack. Note that there are two versions of this figure, one with yellow paint, and one with gold. The Heavyarms Kai Custom loses points for having few accessories and only half of its missile pods openable, but is still a good figure. |
| During the military and political chaos occuring in AC 195, pilot Trowa Barton was forced to abandon his XXXG-01H Gundam Heavyarms mobile suit, leaving it behind on Earth when he went back out into space. Over the next few months, the abandoned Heavyarms would find its way into the care of guerilla rebel Sally Po. Sally, realizing the chaos would be concluded in space and that the infamous Gundam pilots would be at the very center of it, would later go into space herself, taking the Gundam with her to return it to its pilot. Aboard the independent battleship Peacemillion, Gundam supporter Howard would upgrade the groundpounding Heavyarms, outfitting it to fight in space. The improvements made to the Gundam Heavyarms Kai were necessary to give the mobile suit the edge it needed to deliver its firepower against the spacebound forces of White Fang's Virgo II mobile dolls and the mobile suits of the World Nation military. A minor improvement was the addition of several vernier thrusters to give the Heavyarms stability in a zero-gee environment. However, the biggest improvement was the replacement of its single, large beam Gatling gun with a pair of smaller, double-barreled shell-firing Gatling guns, allowing the Heavyarms to split its devastating firepower up and tackle more targets at once. In AC 196, the Mariemaia army, led by Trieze Kushrenada's daughter and Dekim Barton, of the Barton Foundation, attacked Earth with their new powerful mobile suits, the MMS-01 Serpent Custom. The Earth Sphere government, having disarmed, was completely at their mercy. The five Gundam pilots, having previousely sent their Gundams on a slow crawl to the sun, rushed to retrieve them and thereby stop the onslaught. Gundam Heavyarms Kai Custom and its pilot, Trowa Barton, stood with the other Gundam pilots, as well as Preventor Agency pilots Lucrezia Noin and Zechs Marquese in an effort to stop the renewed Operation Meteor and Dekim Barton's plans to conquer the Earth Sphere.
