	In its military buildup for the anticipated war against the Earth Federation, the Principality of Zeon's military was already hard at work developing an improved version of its first combat-capable mobile suit, the MS-05B Zaku. The first of Zeonic Company's new model Zaku II, the MS-06A First Mass Production Type (or "A-type"), was completed in August UC 0077 and saw the introduction of external power cables and other minor improvements over the old Zaku I. The director of the project, Kycilia Zabi, declared the A-type Zaku II insufficient, and more improvements were later to be made, leading to the mass-produced MS-06C Zaku II Type C (and later the well-known MS-06F model). The MS-06A also has the dubious distinction as being the Zaku model used in Operation British, the Zeon Blitzkrieg campaign of terror against the colonies. In addition to the attemtps to shift the orbits of several colonies, causing them to drop onto key portions of the Earth, the Zeon also used NBC (nuclear, chemical, biological) weapons against any colonies that did not declare their allegiance to the Duchy Of Zeon. The rational was that any civilian colony not under Zeon control could be used as a base of operation for military attacks against Zeon, a manufacturing site for weapons for the EFF, and even simply as a source of new EFF personnel from the colony's population. This thinking led to the slaughtering of millions by the Zeon by using NBC weapons on several of the large colonies, with devasting results. The MS-06A was hardened against nuclear effects, including anti-radiological armor treatment, increased cooling capabilities, and armed with a modified 280mm Zaku bazooka capable of launching nuclear tipped warheads.
