	The MS-05B Zaku was the Principality of Zeon�s first mobile suit to see heavy mass-production. A pre-war suit, the Zaku would be retired before the One Year War. However, due to losses, it would continue to see limited combat throughout much of war, mostly being used at isolated bases and by supply convoys. As the war progressed and the Zaku began to see combat more regularly, more of the old mobile suits began to be put back into service. The land warfare Zaku was little more than a stock Zaku repainted in region-specific colors. Few of these suits would see action, for while the Zaku II series was no longer being mass produced, it was not difficult to obtain one. Most Zaku's were assigned to pilots that requested them, or to newly-formed squadrons that were unable to obtain the best equipment available. Some would see action in southeast Asia, with at least one assigned to Commander Topp. Her unit featured a scavenged Zaku II left shoulder armor with the spikes removed, and two spare ammo drums mounted on her Zaku's skirt armor.
