                                             REVIEW
Designed from the same figure as the RX-78-2 Gundam & G-Fighter, the FA-78-1 Gundam Full Armor Type is an impressive resculpt and adds a new degree of detail and playability.  The figure has been recolored in a new dark green and grey low visibility color scheme, the shoulder armor and feet have been redesigned, and the figure can be covered in a removeable armor shell in Full Armor Mode.  The armor snaps firmly into place, stays on well and doesn't considerably limit the figure's poseability.  The large cannon affixed to the armor's back can be folded over the figure's shoulder, and can turn side to side 10 degrees.  Accessories include the same shield and beam rifle as included with the G-Fighter set, with the shield featuring the same arm mount.  Two extra hand sets are also included, one closed and one with trigger fingers.  With detailing this good, excellent accessories and playability, the Full Armor Gundam easily makes for an outstanding figure.
As the RX-78-2 Gundam continued to perform beyond all expectations during the last months of the One Year War, a program was initiated by the Earth Federation Forces to develop and investigate options for possible upgrades to the Gundam. Called "FSWS" (Full Strike Weapon System), Federal engineers developed several options under this program that would involve adding external systems to boost the Gundam's performance in different areas. One such design concept was the FA-78-1 Gundam Full Armor Type, which featured a tremendous amount of firepower for a single mobile suit. In addition to removable external armor modules all over the Gundam's body, new weapons would be added, including a shell-firing cannon, several missile launchers, and a large, hand-held 2-barrel beam gun. Despite the extra thrusters to be mounted in the external armor, however, all the extra weight would have created an unacceptable loss of speed and performance. In the end, the FA-78-1 Gundam Full Armor type never saw construction, and its concepts would serve as the basis for the much-improved FA-78-2 Heavy Gundam.
