Ellen is my sort of my English name. I chose this name when I was form 1 (year7) in Hong Kong, cos my English teacher forced me to do so. If not, he might call me either Susan or Mary. As my surname is LEE, then I found Ellen. There are double "L" and double "E". Actually, there is no other reason choosing this name.
My surname-LEE 嚙踝蕭 means pear. My Chinese name is Pui 嚙踝蕭 Lam 嚙瞎. Since my elder sister's middle name is Pui. Then my parents just chose one more word. My dad chose Lam 嚙磐 at the beginning. But I was always sick, then my mum chose another Lam 嚙瞎. The problem of the first Lam 嚙磐 is no water in the writing structure for my Lee - pear 嚙踝蕭, that's why I was sick all the time. Lam 嚙瞎 means a very heavy raining, then my pear Lee could have enough water, no more sick...or because I grew up later on. Actually, I don't believe in that as a Christian. Anyway, my HKID have been changed, what I could do?
