Secondary 1 (1993)
Secondary school, the place where I have lots of memory... Queenstown Secondary School is the name. Well I think I'll go year by year in order not to mix up everything.
Sec 1, actually nothing much in particular happen that year... I started to wear
glasses at the mid of that year. That was after a Technical teacher, Mr
Woon, accidentally poke his index finger into
my right. From then on I start to wear glasses lor~! I'm not blaming him, it
might be just a coincident mahz... 
I only joined one E.C.A then, National Police Cadet Corps. Why? I always
wanna be a polce when I was young... Some kinda childhood dream~!
The most important thing that happen that year was the appearance of a girl~!
Her name is Serene,
she was my classmate. Yapz~! I fall in love with her, my very 1st love... It all
happened with a "wink"... It was after my house practice, I was
in yellow house while Serene
was in blue house,
where I and See Yee Lee,
who was also in yellow
house, went back to school to get back to class. While queuing up for class, Yee
Lee ask Serene
where has Serene
gone in the morning, Serene
lied saying, "I went to the yellow
house practice wat, I even saw you there...". Upon hearing that, Yee
Lee turned and look at me asking, "Did
you saw her?" I then look at Serene,
whom she then blink both her eyes at me, as a signal to help her con Yee
Lee. Upon seeing that I just froze standing,
unable to say anything... I don't know how to explain~! It's like, everything
was plank, leaving only her in the picture. Then Yee
Lee remember that Serene
was actually from blue
house, so she & Serene
kept laughing, walking back to class leaving me standing alone there...

From then now, I started notice everything about her. Then the tragic came... After she knows that I like her, she started avoiding me, "cold treatment" starts... She won't talk to me, she won't be around whenever I'm around. I remember two occasions where I felt really sad about.
1st occasion, I was told by my teacher to collect the class fund. Serene came to me, throw some money on the table saying something in a very light tone, which I can't hear, and walk off. Therefore I turned around asking, "Why so much money? Who's else is included?" To my greatest surprise, she looked so offended and shouted back to me, "Mine and Chui Yi's~!" The whole class was noisy then, but upon hearing that, everyone kept quiet and look at me... What I do then? I kept quiet and continued to collect the money, keeping the pain all to myself...
The 2nd occasion was a outing called the "90210 Hot Night", everyone wanted to go and party, except me... Why? Well, Yee Lee told me that Serene been hoping to go, but will not go if I go~! So wat do you think I'll do then? Though I also wanna go, I didn't. *sigh*
Throughout the rest of the year was hell to me~! Because of a few factors... Firstly, Serene was very popular among guys in the school, with lots of admirers. All the was from Sec 1 to Sec 5~! 2nd factor, I'm more close with gals than guys, I dunno why also. A lot of people, especially guys, dun like that, thus leaving only a few guys being my friends... It begins from Sec 1 where I started to understand and communicate with gals better. But when one tends talk or hang around with the opposite sex too much, it brings a lot of jealousy and misunderstanding~! Anyway it's fine with me, cos these handful of guys are my true friends then. There's also these 3 gals, Yee Lee, Cindy & Sharon.
Yee Lee is my neighbour who live at the same block same me, so we always go back home together. She is also Serene's best friend. Sharon is my so-call 'mother'. Cindy, the one I mistaken as a non-Chinese when I 1st saw her. I remember the 1st sentence I talk to her, "Are you a Malay or Indian~?" She look so surprise and kept laughing. Then she reply back in Mandarin, " I'm a Chinese~!" Hey, you can't blame me right, she very tan and furthermore, I still dunno how to differentiate Malays & Indians back then.

Secondary 2, argh~! Finally things got better... The boycott campaign against me
stops, the cold treatment from Serene stops
too~! 
I was accepted to hang around my class, guys. They started to ask me to join
them in ball games. But still they never ask me out for gathering though.
However I'm satisfied liao~!
The most relief thing was the cold treatment was finally over, Serene & I started to talk. I'll call her everyday, at a specific time, be it rain or shine. I was even ask to go for her Red Cross ball games~! I got to mix around with the Red Cross uniform group people, one of them was their N.C.O Edwin, who was also fond of Serene. Anyway, he was quite a nice guy and we became good friends. The Red Cross people always come to the basketball court beside my block, whenever they have their basketball games after training on Saturdays. I like to play basketball a lot at that time, and since I just living across the road, thus they always ask me to come along. I must say that I really enjoyed myself then man, not only am I surrounded by so many friends, but also got to see Serene~! Anyway I was the best player among them, and thus my team normally won the game. So they always ask Serene to guard me. In that case I cannot chie her jialiak jialiak wat, must give her face~! In the end my team even up with the other. I also wish to say that most of the gals from the Red Cross uniform group normally will come for the game, but there's only guy from Red Cross that came, that's Edwin, their officer. Can you imagine around more than 30 gals and only 2 guys in a court playing basketball. Man~! No wonder people misunderstood that I'm chee hong~! (Chee Hong means flirt in hokkien)
Another very happy occasion is the concert item for Teachers' Day. Our class
came out with a item where we wanna dance to the teachers, a slow dance. It
consist of 8 pairs of guys and gals. We dun have much problem selecting the
song, nor the steps. Our big problem is who to partner with who? In my class
there's oso two other guys fond of Serene,
they're Benson & Steve,
who's one of my close friend. Serene was
also participating in this item, so there's a big problem man~! So instead of
fighting with one another, we let the all the gals select their own partner.
Time spent waiting for the result to come out was really long & scary~!
However, everyone predicted that Serene's partner will most probably be Benson.
Thus it was killing me, by just waiting for them to decide. Finally the result
was out~! Serene chose........... ME~! 
I was so shocked, when Yee Lee came smiling
at me saying, "Serene & you
partner..." Upon hearing that, I thought she's joking with me, but my
doubts were answered when I look at Serene.
It's really kinda sweet when I saw her with that kind of shy look... Steve
even give me that kinda look passing a secret message, "Nah Bei~! You
win liao lor~!" Wat's even better, Serene
and I was the dancing models, where we demonstrate the steps to the rest of the
participants. That's not the best yet, the best was I got to hold her hands~!
I'll not go into the details about the dance, but I'll tell you one part only. There's one part where the gals will cross their hands in front of them and the guys will hold their hands from behind. The guys are not hugging them so dun get the wrong idea, I'm sure I did not but I dunno about the rest lah~! Anyway, it's really close lor, I can smell her hair... Sweet~! Though there're times where she accidentally 'lie' onto me. I still remember when I sleep at night, I'll look upon the ceiling and place my hands in the same position as I'll placed in the dance where I hold her hands. And this feeling can actually last for as long as a week~! No Kidding~! Hey, dun get the impression that I'm a pervert k~! Com'mon~! She's me my 1st love, so I sure treasure every moment one right...
However, Serene
once told Yee Lee
that she always regard me as her younger brother. (Her
B-Day is 03.02.1980 while mine is 28.08.1980). It's
kinda sad though, but as long as I can get to see and talk to her, wat more do I
ask?
