Ryan's Rant
Intro
This is my first ever blog so hopefully you guys will enjoy it. I'll try and keep things interesting with my takes on whats being going on in the majors and any other baseball thought's I may have. I'll do my best to rant weekly about something. Majors and Minor League's included.

Well I've started the blog over. Yes yes I've been way too busy to even really update the webpage enough to my likings....but this will finally change as a desk type job is starting up for me in August and being at the computer more will lend me to wasting some time here and there on all things baseball. So that will be good for the website as I really want a page for every team in the league at somepoint.
Back to the real blog though. I've got to rant about what I know and being in J.P. Ricciardi land its time to get alot of my chest on a Toronto team that had some pre-season publications expecting a chase to the playoffs being in the the thick of the AL East pennant and AL Wild Card chase all season long.
Well lets check the standings. At the point I'm writing this the Jays are playing a rain shortened DH against the AL East's cellar dwellar in the Baltimore Orioles. Currently up 7-1 in game 2 and if they hold on will be 51-51 and only 9 games back of the AL leading TB Rays. This late in the season despite some injuries the Jays are a .500 ball club. This has to be a huge disappointment to most and a huge waste of a few months of superior pitching by the entire Jays piching staff.
How'd the Jays get here. J.P. has made nothing but some oddball moves in the last few seasons including this one. First off the signings of AJ Burnett and BJ Ryan. I never really had a problem with these, the Jays wanted to change fan perception and singing two big time free agents at the time was a pretty big deal. Sure they way over paid for AJ it was him or Gil Meche at the time and if the JP didn't hand out that huge payday another team would have. The FA market that year was pretty weak.
The signing of the Big Hurt I had a huge problem with especially since it was for more than a 1 yr deal. That's the only way I would have signed a guy like that after he came off a huge season in Oakland. Sure enough at the start of this year, Frank Thomas in a huge slump, John Gibbons feeling the heat benches him to play guys who at the time are hitting. Of coarse the "personable" FT is pissed and causes a huff and boom days later the Jays just flatout cut him.
Gotta run will finish this later tonight....
