BACK WAAAAY BACK!!
June 24th, 2007
Two months into the EBL's 2nd season and there are clearly some haves and have nots present in the American League East division.
"I never envisioned being 29 1/2 games back before June!" a somewhat deflated Jose Reyes explains, "I keep waiting to wake up in my bed in a cold sweat screaming it was just a dream! It was just a dream!"
Unfortunately for Reyes and the Towson Tigers its no dream. The Tigers have an EBL worst 14 wins, and after a trade of K-Rod and A-Rod its apparent that the rebuilding process has begun.
But don't worry Towson fans, your misery is shared within your own division, as the New York Remolinos share in your pain. The Remolinos are 24 1/2 games out of first place, and don't show any signs of turning it around this season as they are 2-8 in their last 10 games.
In their last series at home, there was an entire row of fans, about 10 or 12 of them with the good ol' paper bags on thier heads.
"I'll be honest with ya!, Our pitching is been pretty much horrible this season" explained NYR owner Matt Camporeale, "our go to guy has ERA over six, if you told me in Spring Training that Jake Peavy's ERA would be at 6.05 two months into the season I would have called you more than crazy."
But unlike Towson it looks like New York has decided to take this season in stride and don't seem to be ready for a complete team overhaul. Instead taking their lumps and hopefully bounce back next year.
Its still early but its safe to say that Towson's and New York's season are over. Crazy things have happened in the EBL's short history but I think its safe to say no team is going to come back from 30 games out to win the division. But then again that's why we play the games.
