Draft Well Underway

Months of preparing lists and talking trades and mostly just sitting and waiting for the draft to come. That's what an offseason in a DMB League is like, "I'm going stir crazy until the draft!" St.Kitts Grasshoppers GM Ryne Sandberg explains, "it's bad enough we didn't make the playoffs last season, but the agony of waiting during the off-season for the draft is almost too much for one to bare."

Well the EBL's third season is officially underway with the 2008 Free Agent Rookie draft already humming into the second round. The newly named New York Kings of Queens made the bold move to acquire the number one selection and they wasted no time selecting Daisuke Matsuzaka.

"We felt he was just too much of a talent to pass on," New York GM Matt Camporeale added "we are in a rebuilding mode and felt that Dice-K could be an integral part of our plan to regain greatness."

Dice-K should step in and be the immediate strong number 2 mand in the rotation behind Jake Peavy, and if Mark Prior could ever overcome his arm troubles New York would have a very strong 1,2,3 punch on the mound.

After the Valhalla grabbed third baseman for now Ryan Braun with the 2nd overall pick, the Black Diamond Wranglers were licking their chops with the luxury of making the next 3 selections.

The Wranglers wasted no time in running up to the podium and announcing 'in alphabetical order' their selections of starting pitcher Clay Buchholz, third baseman Alex Gordon, and the youngest of the trio 20-year old outfielder Justin Upton. "Thats such a great feeling to be able to draft three, what we think are, young studs that will help our franchise become a powerhouse" Black Diamond GM Rory Offen explained, "we we're more than ecstatic and so are our fans!"
