HOLIDAYS
AND INITIATIVES
I
tabled with apple flavored lollipops and honey sticks.
I also gave students cards to write to parents and friends; we paid for
the postage and mailed them. We
also did Tashlich at the lake in the center of campus.
I had students make edible sukkahs out of graham crackers, pretzel twigs and frosting. For a minimum dollar donation to the September 11th fund, students were able to write their name on a laminated paper leaf to be hung in our sukkah.

I tabled with gelt, jelly donuts and dreidels. We had a giant menorah lighting in the courtyard (called “The Bricks”) of the law school.

I
tabled with all the traditional Tu B’Shevat seder foods.
We gave students flowerpots to plant and decorate.
I
tabled with hamentaschen. I also
went with students to a Megillah reading and Purim Party at the Chabad house in
Coconut Grove.
I
tabled with chocolate matzo to promote our Chocolate Seder.
We had a series of events the week of Yom HaShoah. Five Holocaust survivors came and spoke to students at different locations on campus. I coordinated a reading of names of Holocaust victims in the center of campus. I also led students on a trip to visit the Holocaust Memorial on Miami Beach.

I
gave out Birthday Cake in celebration of Israel’s Birthday.
We attended an Israel rally at the MAR JCC in North Miami during the afternoon of Yom Yerushalayim.

I
gave out Shabbat to-go bags; each contained a challah roll, grape juice box, and
candle.
I
gave out potpourri bags and tied to them an explanation of Havdalah and the
symbolism of the spices.
Right
before Spring Break I set up a table where I gave out Capri Sun drink packs and
pieces of pineapple with little umbrellas in them.
I played reggae music and passed out the traveler’s prayer.
During
Final Exam time I passed out Exam Survival Packs filled with candy and notes
wishing everyone good luck.
Hole-y
Bagels: I gave out bagels and cream cheese in the Breezeway.
(People really liked the miniature bagels from Publix and they were
inexpensive.)
