It’s sure that we all have our own way to enjoy free time. I propose you to sweeten it by making ‘cakes’ (…and, of course, tasting them !!).
In Catalunya we have a large tradition in the art of confectionery. That is so that the number of pastry shops is important all over the country and the tradition become more ‘eating’ than ‘making’.
However, it is worth to try and see if you become an authority on the subject. At least I assure you that you’ll be very popular among your family and friends.
Here are a two proposals : (Hey! just two? , Yep, remember that this page is Still UNDER CONSTRUCTION )
(and please don’t forget that ‘sweet’
recipes will be welcome too !!)
Pineapple Cake
3 eggs
200 g flour
175 g sugar
175 g butter
3 tablespoons of milk
3 tablespoons of baking powder
26 cm diameter mould
Syrup : pineapple
juice of tinned pineapple + 1 glass of kirsch + 3 tablespoons of sugar
Brownish liquid sweet : put the sugar into a saucepan and melt it until it turns to brownish liquid sweet. Spread it on the bottom of the mould (or use the bottled liquid sweet).
Halve the slices of pineapple and distribute them on the bottom of the mould making a pattern after pressing them dry. Do the same with quarters of slices around the walls of the mould.
Pull apart yolks from white of eggs and whip the whites.
Apart, beat the yolks with the sugar and butter, adding the 3 tablespoons of milk. Once it is well mixed, add portions of the whipped whites and the flour (previously mixed with the baking powder) carefully stirring the mixture.
Fill the mould with the mixture and the cake is oven-ready. Cook it at 150/160 ºC during ¾ of an hour (approx.).
Syrup : in the meanwhile make the pineapple juice boil with the sugar. After 5 minutes boiling, add the kirsch and make it boil 1-2 minutes more.
Once the cake is cooked, removed it from its mould and carefully sprinkle the syrup on it before it gets cool.
Serve the cake chill with whipped cream.
