It's been a long time since I've done much here.  I managed to delete my index page for a few days while creating a joke website for a dinosaur-based astrology system dreamt up on a trip back from the American Museum of Natural History this summer.  (Site's not done yet, but it should be fun whenever it is - Dinoscope.)

We had a long busy summer.  Highlights included having a dinosaur intern stay with us for 2 weeks - Jennifer Anne' (Dinoscope is in part her fault) - a 16 year old from Albany, NY, and an absolute joy.  My mother came here right after Jennifer left, and at the end of her visit, my cousin Anne arrived with one of her boys in tow.  They stayed for 3 days, and though the timing was a little awkward, it was altogether wonderful.  Words can't really give it justice.  For a few days, I didn't feel like an orphan.  (Thanks, Mom and Anne.)

Jason has perhaps been more under the gun - there's a book being written about the Egypt project, so there's been a writer here all summer talking to the team.  Watching him work has been very interesting - watching him basically not only make himself approachable and easy to talk to but also become a side player (sorta) of the team.  (If you're as curious as I am, go find a copy of "Ghosts of Everest" - it's a damn good read, and it's the last book Will ghostwrote.)  Part of me will miss him when he leaves.  At any rate, if you'd like to see more about the media hoopla surrounding my husband, check out
http://carlsagan.com.

I may be going to Egypt this next season as Record Keeping Girl.  IF we can work out all the finances...   I'm really hoping it works out.

We adopted a dog (Jemma) and 2 new chinchillas - Bella quickly changed that to ONE new chinchilla, unfortunately.  Though it led me to
http://www.chins-n-quills.com, which I highly recommend as a site for info on chins and hedgehogs.  As for Jemma - well...her intro to the cats has been rocky at best..but here's hoping...

I have 2 book reviews and a new article in "Happy Halloween" magazine (which isn't online yet, but it's on Joseph Vargo, if you're curious and get a chance to look when it *is*), and hopefully will have one in "Scared Stiff" Real Darn Soon on Halloween and Renaissance faires.  Next issue of "HH" will have a bunch o' articles on the Addams Family by yours truly next issue.  And maybe an article on William Shakespeare's Haunted Ship will appear in "Haunted Attraction" before the end of the year as well...here's hoping...

Wednesday I head down to Reading to visit my nana's grave and to get some pictures of headstones from the family plot.  Dare I hope that it will lead to some other family connections?  I'm not sure.  The Gessin connections haven't panned out at all, unfortunately.  I assume that the family tie is just too weird for them.  I've had really no luck at all in tracking down any of my family on my father's side.  Even my father has dropped back out of touch.

I suppose on the same topic - I wrote a letter to Jason Michael this summer as well, trying to explain why sometimes Carolyn sends him messages of my concern...because I didn't feel that it was really fair of me to do so.  But sometimes he still haunts my dreams, and I know it's the same old connection that lingers between us.  Shortly after I wrote, I had a dream where I'd asked Carolyn to give him a painting for me, and he returned it to her.  I told her, after I'd awakened, that he wouldn't be responding to my letter...and sure enough, he hasn't..though I still dream about him.  And honestly, I do wish him well.

And some nights (like tonight) I still miss Maggie.

But Grisly is kicking into gear, and I did venture out to my first
Dracula's Ball this weekend.  So there are positives.

More later...
