Reductions of UK emissions are being met by fitting more efficient burners in power stations. Gas is being used instead of coal in power stations; and, with road transport rapidly becoming recognised as the single most important source of air pollution, the compulsory fitting of catalytic converters have been compulsory in all new cars since 1993.
