Right, you know when chicks are born, do you know how they tell if it�s a boy chick or a girl chick? No? Well that�s right, because you can�t, there�s no outward sign of gender on a chick when it�s born, you just can�t tell until it�s a bit older and it hits chicken puberty. But for some reason it�s useful to know what gender a chick is when it�s only a baby, and so people are trained up as chicken sexers.
Chicken sexers are the people who tell us if a chick is a boy or girl. But of course there�s no way to know is there. Well, the answer, as is that to most essays, is � sort of.
If you decide to become a chicken sexer, and I would advise that you do because it seems a pretty cool job, the training goes thus: you are sat down in front of endless pictures of chicks, and after you see each one, you are told whether it grew up to be a boy or a girl chick. Eventually, after a lot of this tomfoolery, you begin to be able to guess what gender the chick is, and eventually, you start to get it right every time. There are weird little subtle signs that we cannot seem to pinpoint, that somehow the chicken sexers pick up. Eventually.
So, what the fuck has this got to do with being gay right? Well�
Right, you know what gaydar is? Probably, but just in case � gaydar is the idea that gay people can spot other gay people, not because they are wearing big freedom flags or interlinking gender symbols or any of that nonsense, but like, if you line up a row of women who have no outward sign of their sexuality, I reckon I could pick out which one�s the dyke. Gay people - we can do this, honestly, we just can�like the chicken sexers.
So right, yeah, why is it like the chick sexers? Because 1) we see a lot more gay people, we go to gay places, (I accept that lots of straight people do too, but we often take an active interest in who is gay so as we don�t come on to straight lasses and the like.) and 2) We often find out people�s sexuality - it�s much more likely someone will tell you they are gay if you are. So, in a long drawn out way, we get the same kind of chicken sexing training.
