Around the Dorm...
So you can't spend three years in the dorms and not be involved.  This is what I have discovered.  After being on the Special Events committee for Taylor (my dorm!) Sophomore year, I decided (ok, I was strongly encouraged...) to head the committee for the next year.  Oh man!  So I was in charge of planning three main events for the dorm, along with a "study break" for finals week every quarter.  I also had to do fundraising, and help with Hall Council events, as well as attend 3+ meetings a week.  What a year!

#1:
Terror Tower is a Halloween event (obviously) where each floor (there are 12) is decorated and judged and set up for kids to come through.  We also tried to set up some games in the main lobby.  It seems kids were too busy scrounging up as much candy as possible in the alotted time to participate in the games... imagine that!

#2:
Winter Olympics is a series of events (somewhere around 15, over a period of 3 weeks) that each floor participates in for points toward a final score.  In the end, the top three floors win cash prizes for floor activites.

#3:
Taylor Semiformal is the big event of the year sponsored by Hall Council (meaning the Special Events committee).  We held it at the Blackwell last year, and we had an attendance of about 200.  Our theme was "Cities of the World".  It went pretty well for the amount of stress I was under I suppose...  Unfortunately I have absolutely NO pictures of the dance, decor, or anything!  You could say I'm camera retarded.

Dance, Dance, Dance!
To start out, I've been dancing since I was 7.  Anyone who knows me knows that.  So, Freshman year here I was taking a tap class from a really awesome teacher who was a grad student at the time.  All grad students in the dance program have to do a final project during their last quarter.  So, this teacher decided to put together a 40's style dance show downtown at Ballet Met- Chorus line, Jazz Band and all.  I was lucky enough to be a member of her Chorus line, and we had a blast!  We practiced all quarter for the three night performance, and my parents even came up to see it.  The setting was really nice.  She put some tables out like an old nightclub, and we served candy (dinner was the original plan, but didn't quite make it).  What a great experience. Here's a picture of us with Jessica (the choreographer/ grad student).  I'm on the far left, if you couldn't tell.  Sorry about the quality (there's a better one on my "college pictures page).
Chorus Line

What else?
So those are/ were my big commitments.  This year, I've been more involved with the Chi Alpha Christian fellowship that Stephen has been in for awhile.  Also, I participated in Swing Club (so fun!) a couple quarters, but don't really have time anymore (or anyone who wants to go with me...).  I tried Ballroom Dance team for a quarter, but it was just not as fun as Swing.  Right now, I'm concentrating on my classes (because I really need to bring that GPA thing up), and for once really enjoying the material (you know, now that I'm finally into a major that I like...).
