Making Disciplies
Clo and I together have the challenge to make disciples out of many kids who in the eyes of many have no hope or future...  Last year I was working full time with the kids ministry and starting up a small group for teemage boys on Friday nights.  When Clo came to the slum in June last year she took over the kids ministry and we started to change things and the kids who where not really interested in changing slowly stopper coming as we fought to keep the rest. The kids the stayed who at first has no interest in praying or participating is the devotional time, started to fight over wo was going to pray or not. When ever a kid shows up that has not been participating it is so easy to see the difference in their attitudes from those who have been participating.  For some time I have not been working full time with the kids but now I am going to be working full time with them agian other then one or two days of the week where I will be working with needy families.  Three of our pre teenagers have given thier lives to God and are now seeking to know God and make Him known.  For some time I was thinking about giving up on Friday nights with the boys but now I have around 8 boys showing up, which I am hoping to see a couple of them going to Kings Kids in Jan. with my roommate, seeing that Clo and I will be married and on our honey moon/vacation during that time.  Where last year I gave up my vacation to work with kings kids.
New Car...
I did get a new car, it is a 1990 Fiat Elba.  It has  been a while seen I bought and wanted to inform you in my last news letter but I thought it would be to much in one letter.  Having the cas has been a great blessing.  Clo and myself have been taking kids the church with us in the car all most every week now.  I have also taken a few people from the slum to the hospital as they have come asking for help.  Also it have been great to go out once in a while!
New staff...
I have been praying for some time now for staff for our base and it has been wonderful to see new people arriving. We are now a team of 10, where for many years this base has had two of three staff.
We have been going to schools where we have been using skits to share the love of Christ with the kids and teenagers.  The last school we went to we performed 6 times during the day to around 1,500 teenagers or more!  We now have been to 6 different school this year!
Families in the slum...
Looking out my window at the hill side, I see  thousands of houses that seem to be built on top of the other leaving just enough space for steps that turn into little mazes if you are not to familiar with the area.  The houses are made out of brick and not in to bad of shape.  Now if you make your way up the hill towards the other side is where you will find mud houses where many isolated families live.  It is in this area where we have been visiting families every week over the last couple months.  Along with out team here I am now starting to put a floor down for a needy familly of 10 that some of you have heard about already.  Three of the kids in the family participate when they can, in our kids ministry here.
Please pray for Rio and the violence here in the slum.  The police have been coming into the slum all most every day and the other day Clo and I had to sleep in a friends house outside the slum becasue we were not able to entre the slum with the shutting going on... also please pray for the kids we work with.  Thank you!
