My name is Eli Michael Powell I am 24 years old. I am from Mankato, Minnesota USA. I gave my life to Jesus Christ and because a Christian on July 4th 1997. After finishing school I started in the trucking business and during that time God started to put two things on my heart street people and missons. Why street people? Well, street peole always seem to be treated like the trash that no one wants to deal with. Their the out-casts that no one wants. I guess that is how I felt before I give my life to Christ. Now I want to give a chance to those that have nothing, so they to can have a new life and experience the love of Jesus Christ. In July of 2000 I took a 5 month course call Discipleship Training School with Youth With A Misson. Following the course I took another 6 month counseling course with YWAM. I guess becoming what is called a YWAMer, some one who works with Youth With A Misson. I then found out about a course in Brazil called Rescue and Restore , which is focused on training people to work with street kids. On Dec. 27, 2001 I arrived in Brazil and went to the south to Porto Alegre and worked in a boys home for 5 months. Then I had to go back to the states to apply for other visa, three months latter I was in Belo Horizonte taking the Rescue and Restore course and since then I have been working as staff in the Rescue House, working with street kids. |
