Mountain Province

   

Location and boundaries

  • Mountain Province is situated at the center of the Northern Luzon particularly the Central Cordillera.
  • It is bounded on the east by Isabela, on the west by Ilocos Sur, on the north by Kalinga and on the south by Ifugao. On the northwest is Abra and southwest, Benguet.
  • The province has a total land area of 229,231 hectares with Bontoc as its capital.
  • The province is mountainous, characterized by very steep slopes and deep ravines.
  • Towering peaks and sharp ridges are features of its center and western parts and sloping and rolling foothills characterize its eastern towns.
  • Land elevation ranges from 500 meters at Saclit, Sadanga to as high as 2,714 meters above sea level at the top of Mt. Kalawitan in Sabangan
