Bohol

   

Location and boundaries

  • The province lies east of Cebu, southwest of Leyte, north of Camotes Sea, west of the Bohol Strait, and south of the Mindanao Sea. Its capital is Tagbilaran City.
  • Bohol is an oval-shaped mainland surrounded by 73 smaller islands and is generally flat, with a gently rolling terrain. At certain points, hills drop steeply to the coast from a maximum elevation of 870 meters above sea level.

    • Bohol is where you can find the world's smallest monkey - the tarsier.

  • Historic sites
    • The Punta Cruz is an old structure built by the Jesuit priests during the Spanish era as watch tower against invading muslim pirates
    • The Baclayon Church was built in 1595 by the Jesuits and considered to be the oldest stone church in the Philippines.
