My experience in Latvia was a real eye-opener. I came back from Latvia saying, "thank god I live in Slovakia." Latvia is a beautiful country, but I don't recommend visiting in the winter. I really did enjoy my visit, but still at the time I was still adjusting to Slovakia, and Latvia was recovering from even stronger socialism.

ťi v Lotýske otvoril moje oči. Vrátil som sa na Slovensku, a hovoril "vďaka bohu bývam na Slovensku." Lotýsko je krasný krajn ale odporučuvam návštiviť v lete. Mal som dobré návštivu ale tede ešte som nebol adáptovanie Slovenke a Lotýsko malo tvrdšie socializmus.

Helsinki was the first "western" city I had been for any significant time in after about a year in central/ eastern Europe. It reminded me a lot of Boston. It is in my top five favorite cities that I have visited. Visiting Finland made me feel a little homesick, it reminded me so much of New England.
Helsinki bol prvé zapadné mesto kďe som bol po roku v stredné/ východné Europe. Spominal mi Boston. To je v moje 5 najlepšie miesto kďe som bol. Bol som trouch "homesick" mojá návšteva, spomínal mi New England.
Tampere- the Venice of Finland
Tampere is probably the furthest north I have ever been. It is an old industrial city. It was also the home of the communists in Finland, and a believe is where Lenin died?

Alpy v Svičiarsku
Since I was little, I had always wanted to ski in the Swiss Alps. So I went. I found Zermatt on the internet, it sounded great, right under the Matterhorn. It was! I stayed in a great youth hostel, meet nice people, and got fondu and wine for dinner.
Odkedy som bol malý chcel som ližovať v Svčiriarskach Alpach. Tak som šil. Našil som Zermatt na internetu, výzeral súper, ihňed pod Matterhornom. Bolo to súper. Ostál som v študenskom hotele, boli tam dobré ludia, a dosťali sme fondu a vino na večeru.
When I arrived in Zermatt, I checked into the hostel rented skies and went to get a lift ticket. I also wanted to sign-up for a day of guided backcountry skiing. When I asked about off piste they told me there was not enough snow! Great I thought, I finally get to Switzerland to ski and there is no snow. That night it started to snow, the next day it continued, and the skiing just kept getting better and better. The next day was sunny and there was thigh deep powder everywhere - first tracks everywhere! Could have been the best skiing of my life. The picture to the right was my third day and was taken in Cervinia, Italy on the other side of the mountain.
Keď som došil do Zermattu, najšil som obýtovánie, si pôžičal leži, a išil som kupiť listok na vleku. Chcel som tieš robiť "off-piste" ale mi poviedali nie je dostátok snehu! Skvelý, koničiný som v Svičiarsku a neni sneh. Táto noc snežilo a pokračovalo daľšie den. Liežovanie bolo perfekté a zlepšovalo a zlepšovalo. Na druhý den svetilo slunko a bol sneh nad kolinom, bol som prvý všady. Možno bolo nalepsie ležovanie v živote. Táto fotka je z tretáho dni v Cevini

Often people only think of Prague when they think of the Czech Republic. However the Czech Republic is full of neat places and cities. My good friend Peter and I went to visit Czech Paradise (Cesky raj). The reserve is full of amazing stand stone cliffs. The left Peter is squeezing through one.
Často ľudia iba myslia na Prahu keď o Čecha rozmyslia, ale Česko tiež je plný zajumeve miesta. Moj dobre kamart Peter a Ja sme návštivili Český raj.

I went to Brussels on business for PAN Parks, but I did get some time to look around and take some pictures. Brussels is a small but nice city. It seems more like a working city then many of the other cities I have been to in Europe. In Brussels there are some very pretty buildings and there is wonderful chocolate. I visited many of the European Commission (the "executive" arm of the EU) buildings. The EC is tiny and there can be one person right out of university who rights up a directive and that's that.
Bol som v Brussele na služabnú pre PAN Parkov, ale stihal som popozeriť a trouch fotiť. Brussels je malý ale pekný. Bol ako ľudia tam pracuju a nie je turistické mesto. Má tam nejaké pekné budove a skvelú čokoladu. Tieš som návštival veľa budový EC (vladn
á časť EU). EC a malý. Može byť jeden človek ihňed za univerzita kto pise smerincu a hotovo.England and Scotland
Anglicko a ŠkotskoI had been promising friends that I would visit in England for years and years. Then for almost three more years while I was in Europe. These trip was one I have been wanting to make for many years, and was very happy to catch-up with old friends in there home country.
I flew into London from Prague and bought a one-way train ticket (it would have been nice if the guy had told me that I could get a round trip for 2-3 pounds more especially one the one-way tickets were 45-50 pounds) to Leeds to meet my friend Dani. Dani took me to York, a historic town that is famous for being a Viking center in England. It was a really neat old town unfortunately I got rather sick. This is one of the oldest corners in York.
Priletil som z Praha do Londýna a som si kupil jednosmerný (bolo by lepšie kebý chapik mi povedal že spetočný je iba kusok drasie) listok vlakom do Leeds. Tam som sa stretoval so Kamartkou Dani. Oni mi zobrala do York, historické miesto, znamie kvali Vikingy. Je to skvelé mesto, bohužial bol som chorý. To je jedná najstarsiá roha.
Newcastle
After a few days in Leeds (most of them sick) a headed up to visit my friend Mig, in Newcastle. I started recovering, and we visited Hadrians wall (edge of the Roman Empire), the castle at Newcastle, and other interesting sites. The millennium bridge (right) was built at the same time as the millennium dome, it is much more interesting to look at, and a little more practical.
Po par dni v Leedsu (vešok bol som chorý), som išil do Newcastle a návštivu kamratovi, Mig. Pomalý bol som dravšie. Išili sme viedit Hadrians Mor (hranica Rimské Czarstov), a hrad v Newcastle a viac. Na pravo je millennium m
osť, bol postaviný na tie isti časť millennium dome, je viac zavjeme a practický.
Scottland
After Newcastle, I went to Newtonmore to meet my friend Nic and do some hiking in the highlands. My day hiking in the highlands with Nic may have been one of the best days of my trip. The Scottish highlands are impressive. I hope to be able to go back and do some more hiking in Scotland.
Počas v Newcastle, išil som do Newtonmore sa stretnuť s kamratkou Nic a isť na turú s v highlands. Ten den v highlands s Nic-ou možno bol najlepšie dne tejto dovolenky. Skostký hor s mimoriadný. Dufám že jeden den sa vratim a isť na viac turý v Skotsku.
Brave Heart
Due to horrible train connections in Scottland, I had a few hours to kill in Sterling, what luck! Sterling is home to the Scottish National William "Brave Heart" Wallace museum. There is also a large castle and medieval prison. The interesting thing was that William Wallace never saw this building. It was still an interesting museum.
Kvali zlé spojiny v Skotsku, mal som par hodiny čakať v Sterlingu, to bol štastia! Sterling má pamäť Williama Wallaca "Brave Heart" a muzeam. Tieš je tam velý hrad a strednovekný bazen. Je zavejeme že William Wallace nikdý nevidili tu budovu. Stale je zavjeme muzem.
