St. Therese of the Child Jesus
               ORIGIN

Father Putigan, a jesuit, began the novena to St. Therese of the Child Jesus on December 3,1925, asking the glorioud Saint for one great favor. For nine days he recited the "Glory be to the Father" twenty four times, thanking the Holy Trinity for the favors and graces showered on St. Therese during the twenty four years of her life on earth. The priest asked St. Therese, that as a sign that his novena was heard he would receive from someone a freshly plucked rose. On the third day of the novena, an unknown person sought out Fr. Putigan and presented him with a beautiful rose.

Father Putigan began the second novena on December 24 of the same year, and as a sign, he asked for a white rose. On the fourth day of this Novena, one of the sister-nurse brought him a white rose saying "St. Therese sent you this."

Amazed, the priest asked, "where did you get this?"

"I was in the chapel," said the Sister " and as I was leaving I passed the alter above which hang the beautiful picture of St. Therese. This rose fell at my feet. I want to put it back into the bouquet, but a thought came to me that I should, bring it to you."

Father Putiga received the flowers he had petitioned of the little flower of Jesus, and promised to spread the novena to increse devotion to, and bring her nore honor.
PRAYER TO ST. THERESE OF THE CHILD JESUS

St. Therese, make my troubles your own, speak a word for me to our Lady Immaculate. Beg her as Queen of the Heart of Jesus to obtain for me her powerful intercession the grace I yearn for so ardently. Beg her to join with it a blessing that may strengthen me during life. Defend me at the hour of death and lead me to a happy eternity. Amen.

O St. Therese of the Child Jesus, who has merited the title of Patronese of the Missions, we beseech you according to your promise to let fall your shower of roses by doing good on earth.

Most Blessed Trinity, I thank you for all the favors and all the graces bestowed on your servant, Therese of the Child Jesus, during the twenty four years of her life. Through the merits of St. Therese, grant me the grace I yearn for so ardently, if it is according to your Most Holy will and the benefit of my soul.
*****When I was in college, I recited the novena prayer to St. Therese and as a sign that she would grant me my prayer I asked from her a blue rose. On the ninth day of my novena, my best friend, Lei, gave me a blue rose. My prayer was answered. Since then, I always believe that St. Therese can really make miracles on her own way. Even up to now, she never fail to give me guidance and answer my prayers to the way that is best for me.
Since the time she answered my petition, I always tell a friend about my story and her miracles and would sometimes give them a pamphlet about St. Therese.
I hope this site would help a lot to encourage devotion to St. Therese. My way of saying "Thank you St. Therese."
