After last week's hiccup, the Eagles returned to winning ways against league leaders Cottage Farm Rangers. The opening ten minutes saw Cottage Farm probing at the Eagles defence but not finding a way through. Building from this strong defence Eagles started to go forward with man-of-the match Tim Travers causing many problems down the right wing. However after 17 minutes it was from the left that the opening goal came. Dan Richards picked up the ball and curled a superb shot around the goalkeeper from 25 yards out. This set the pattern of the first half. After 26 minutes Tom Hatton intercepted a defensive clearance from Cottage Farm and put the ball through to Tim Travers to slide his shot home. Just two minutes later it was Travers turn to become provider as he crossed the ball from the right for Jon Forster to hit home from six yards out. Two minutes later Eagles found themselves four goals up. Tom Hatton again intercepted a defensive pass out, but this time lobbed the ball into the goal himself. Eagles continued to press forward and with halftime almost upon them scored the fifth goal with Jon Forster hitting home after a corner kick.
In the second half Cottage Farm came out looking to get back on terms, putting the Eagles defence under tremendous pressure. After ten minutes they pulled a goal back through Rayner and continued to look for more success. The Eagles defenmce held firm however and were only breeched once more. Five minutes from time a foul within the box resulted in a penalty for Cottage Farm which Stephen Peters hit sweetly home.
This win takes the Eagles back to third in the division with games in hand over the two leading teams.
