Clay Aiken Short Stories by Elena Felsig

Blue Moon
Summary: A story inspired by Clay Aiken but 100% fiction. The story takes place in the summer of 1999, when Clay is 20 years old. Clay is working as a YMCA camp counselor in the mountains of North Carolina. Yes, there's a girl involved; her name is Joanna. A central theme is Clay's fear of water. The moon is everywhere. And yes, he does get to sing--5 songs in fact, including gospel, bluegrass, country, and pop. Wish I could get Clay to record the soundtrack to accompany this story! There are actual quotes hidden throughout the story from Clay, Simon, Paula, Randy, and Gladys Knight. See if you can find them.

Length: 5600 words
Rating: PG

I Know the River (sequel to Blue Moon)
Summary: In response to Clay fan requests, I wrote this sequel about Clay and Joanna. We're back in the Southern Appalachians for the conclusion to the story begun in Blue Moon. The twin themes of romance and Clay's fear of water intertwine and come to a head. Wow--gorgeous mountain scenery, waterfalls, wildflowers, and wildlife. And yes, he gets to sing.

Length: 10,600 words
Rating: PG-13

Thanks so much to everyone who has inquired about my next stories about Clay and Joanna. The two stories below are in progress and the first one should be coming within the month. I will notify everyone who has e-mailed me about the stories when it is ready. Please e-mail me if you would like to get on the notification list. (See my e-mail address at the bottom of this page.)

When You Come Back Down (more short fiction about Clay and Joanna)
Summary: In progress. This story follows Clay and Joanna and other characters introduced in Blue Moon and I Know the River. It's 4 years later in the summer of 2003. Soulmates Clay and Joanna have split up; K.C. and Carrie are married with a child; and a reporter named Meg noses around and uncovers the Clay story of a lifetime. Can what she discovers bring Clay and Joanna back together? Featuring cameo appearances by many of the idol contestants, especially best friend Kimberley Locke. The story will be posted here as soon as it is finished.

Length: unfinished
Rating: PG

A Perfect Day in London (directly follows When You Come Back Down)
Summary: In progress. Clay and Joanna spend a day together in London. Clay will later call it as the "strangest day of his life." See Clay's bodyguard deck him one, a nurse take liberties in the hospital emergency room, and more. Humorous (well, I am trying to make it funny).

Length: unfinished
Rating: R (despite the more adult rating, the story still features the strong plot and character development that are typical of my stories)
