Explorers Close Window

Gone are the days of Columbus,
Of Magellan and Captain Cook,
Who sailed the ocean blue and thus,
Discovered worlds they all mistook,
For other lands like India,
And further east while travelling west,
Columbus sailed to America,
While Cook upon the islands rest,

Magellan charted the oceans great,
And used the stars as his true guide,
Through oceans rough and winds sedate,
He crossed the seas and waters wide,
So great his feat, history recalls,
His name now blesses the northern sky,
Explorers great and in time they all,
Soon pass away but never die,

Forget these explorers not dear sir,
For one day soon we shall explore,
The skies beyond our atmosphere,
Much further than we've gone before,
Towards our neighbor, red planet Mars,
Our explorers will sail one day and soon,
Impossible it seems to sail amongst stars,
But once it was impossible to reach the moon.
