Thoughts on Legolas

1 I'm still trying to find out if I like Tolkien's or Jackson's Legolas better, but I think I would prefer a mixture of both. A little less screaming and a bit more talking. Bettina Kamann |

2 I think Legolas is very much so changed from the books to the movie and, mainly, i liked him better in the books because he was more vocal, he expressed his thoughts in speech and song. What i did like about the movie were his looks in general, and the way his expert archery skills were depicted. His lack of speech in the movie made him seem, standoffish and maybe a little shy or proud. That's just what i wanted to say. But overall, i loved him in both, he looked just the way i imagined him in the books to be like, except i would of had his eyes be green or brown. 5 I prefer Legolas in the movie slightly more. I think elves should be more composed and aloof, as he was in the movie. That's what makes elves so COOL, and godly. Their coolness would be diminished if they were more talkative and curious, because then they would be too human. Rebecca |

10 I think Orlando Bloom played this character really well. It seems like movie-Legolas has a lot more depth than the viewer percieves, like you have to earn movie-Legolas' trust before you could ever truly understand him. I liked the way that movie Legolas showed his emotions and kept them concealed at the same time. A cloak comes to mind as a good symbol, though I haven't a clue as to why. Now book Legolas was very cute in the way he showed is emotions. Exclaimations and such. I really liked book Legolas, he has an adorable personality. So there you have it, I saw movie Legolas as a thinker and book Legolas as a cutie. Orli Bloom was great, and my mind was great too, lol! Linza |

16 Personally, I never heard of Orlando Bloom until I saw Lord of the Rings. I didn't even know what he truly looked like until I saw Black Hawk Down. When I saw the film, I was awed how much it reflected Tolkien's vision of the original masterpiece. Legolas is an amazing character, and I don't think Peter Jackson could have chosen any better than Orlando to play Legolas. Legolas is a strong willed, loyal person with an impeccable aim. He may be quiet and keeps to himself, but when he speaks or moves he does it with such passion in himself, as if he truly believed it. Beautiful job Orlando did, and also to the rest of the cast as well. This is definitely a must see movie. Joely |

17 Legolas was perfect! I loved him in the book, but now that I've seen the movie, he seems more...real! Orli Bloom played him perfectly (I'm glad he didn't get cast as Faramir, who he tried out for), and he seemed to have an elvish air around him, and looked just as I had imagined him to! It would have been better if he had talked more, but if he had talked too much, Legolas might have lost his mysteriously suave personality. In the books he was my favorite character, but I liked him more in FoTR. The movie seemed to bring him alive! I hope he talks more in the Two Towers, because Legolas has a huge role in it. Azura |

18 I think Legolas is an important element in this movie. And he is way hott and totally my kind of guy. It would have been cool to here talk a little more though. He has such a bueatiful voice. and orlando is a complete babe, he is the reason why i saw the movie 5 times. Aimee |

20 In the book he was more free to talk. Not always silent. i love how his eyebrows and eyes tell how he is watching and always listening. you can tell he is concentrating. in the movie when he walks on top of the snow is simply amazing! the running is so graceful and in the book it says he makes no foot imprints. When i was reading the book i always looked ahead to see where the the name Legolas showed up. You knew that he would do something exciting. Just his capibilites are astounding. I think it woud be hard to play the part but Orlando did his best though i'm sure he had fun riding horses and leaping around. Legolas had many parts left out in the movie i was amazed at how much they left out. Some things were necessary yet left out. Like spoiler ahead! s p o i l e r the lembas and elf rope which wil be used to keep track of Gollum. * * * * I know i have said too much but making Lord of the Rings a movie has affected me and now i know hw good a author Tolken is. :) Krystal |

21 I think Legolas is the ideal. His movements are described (and portrayed by Orlando) as being fluid, unhurried but purposeful. I can't imagine why, given the choice, anyone wouldn't want to become an elf. I suppose living for ever could get a bit of a drag if you hadn't got good friends and an interesting life, but you could always pass over if you got fed up. The state of being would be perfect. 22 I think he was represented physically in the movie well. He did sorta look like how i imagined, without the name calling and childish ways. Especially after seeing the Animated 70's take on LOTR, i agree Jackson did a far far better on Legolas and the whole Fellowship. 24 I was a Jude Law fan in '97 when I saw "Wilde", I fell in love w/ one of the actors in that movie. I have loved Orli for 5 years I found out months b4 LOTR opened that he was gonna be in it. 30 Legolas is very attractive. I really do wish that Orlando would consider having his hair like Legolas's, but he is hot anyways. The only time i every really got to see Orlando talk without acting like Legolas was a tape I got of Behind the Scenes of Lord of the Rings. I find Legolas so attractive and all of my friends do too. 33 Kinda Like what Federia said, I'd follow him to the end of the world. Although when I first saw a pic of him over the internet, I also thought he was wierd. But when I saw him on screen I was like 'AHHHH! I'M IN LOVE!' well, something like that... I also was dissapionted with the legolas-gimli friendship. I really hope they put that in the next movie. Legolas was actually almost exactly what I pictured him to be, but I didn't really like his character in the book... It seemed, I don't know, somewhat snobby? Morgan |
