Open to actors, writers and directors in any combination, ELF workshops offer a supportive environment in which to practice skills and nurture talent. How will you benefit?
WRITERS - script development includes reading, rehearsing and test-shooting on the day. A hands-on dynamic process that puts the fun back into writing and encourages that often forgotten yet vital element of filmmaking - the art of collaboration.
ACTORS - opportunities for developing the craft of screen acting in the UK are increasing but still relatively thin on the ground. ELF workshops endeavour to contribute to redressing that balance. By working within a collective of filmmakers actors can develop working relationships with directors and writers, collaborations that can be both artistically and professionaly rewarding.
DIRECTORS - the democracy afforded by digital technology has revolutionised many areas of the industry, not least its cameras. Using their own DV cams, directors bring to life the vision in their minds eye. Again, by developing working relationships within a collective of talent, directors have more to rely on than the ordinary audition process in which casting mistakes can last forever.
In all three areas the important thing at ELF workshops is the quality of collaboration. Building teams quickly, designating responsibility and communicating effectively are the corner stones of the film making process - all prerequisites of what happens at ELF as we workshop scripts and scenes.
