Absolute Error Chapter Nine

"Waaaaark!"
Reno had landed on something soft. It had feathers. And it was biting him. "Yaaargh!" Grabbing onto
the neck of the chocobo in desperation, he hung on for dear life as it ran in wild circles, trying to throw
him off. Sephiroth struggled to his feet and rummaged in his backpack, pulling out a handful of gysahl
greens. He threw them at the wild chocobo and it stopped, catching them skilfully in its beak and starting
to munch on them joyfully. Reno, however, continued on, over the chocobo's lowered head, and into a
bush beyond. He surfaced, moments later, spitting out twigs and leaves. Sephiroth stroked the chocobo's
beak and head, causing it to 'wart' happily. "It's ours now" he confirmed.

Helping Aeris and Jessie up onto the chocobo's back, Sephiroth ignored Reno and his foolish charade.
The Turk crawled out of the bush, trying to untangle himself from the many branches on which his suit
had become ensnared. A stream of terrible curses wafted in the air before him, as the pain hit him and he
finally realised that he had landed in a gorse bush. The rest of the group stifled laughter as Barret reached
out a hand to help Reno out of the bush, and ended up gaining a considerable number of thorns in his own
hand also. As both men leaped about in agony, the laughter of Aeris, Sephiroth, Jessie, Red XIII and Wedge
rose to the skies above, and the threats of before were forgotten in the blissful sunshine of the outside
world.

The throb of a helicopter overhead distracted everyone from their reverie, and they panicked immediately
"The Turks!" Jessie shrieked "Let's get out of here!" Sephiroth slapped the chocobo on the rump so it
warked in shock and started running. "Head for Kalm!" he called after the two women on its back, "It's
the closest town to here!"

"I'll go on ahead with them", informed Red XIII. "I can run faster than any chocobo." He leaped off on
powerful hind legs, soon catching up with the dashing bird and running alongside it.
